The Amazing Devil

The Amazing Devil are a London-based duo formed by Madeleine Hyland (also known as Scarlet Scarlet) and Joey Batey (known onstage as The Blue Furious Boy). Their story, as the band themselves tell it, began aboard a boat, and that sense of nautical, wandering romanticism runs through much of their music, which pairs literary, theatrical songwriting with raw, emotionally exposed live performance.

The duo built a devoted cult following through intense, cathartic live shows and a catalog that blends folk, cabaret, and orchestral pop textures, with songs like «The Horror and The Wild», «That Unwanted Animal», «Farewell Wanderlust», and «Battle Cries» showcasing their taste for sweeping narrative and vivid imagery. Joey Batey is also known to wider audiences as an actor, notably for his role as the bard Jaskier in the Netflix series «The Witcher», which brought additional attention to the band's music.
