Tate McRae

Tate McRae is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and trained dancer from Calgary. She first came to public attention as a competitive dancer, becoming a finalist on So You Think You Can Dance as a young teenager, before shifting her focus to music through a YouTube series where she shared original songs written in her bedroom. Her early single «One Day» went viral and set her on a path to a recording career.

Signing with RCA Records, McRae built her audience with confessional pop songwriting steeped in R&B-tinged production, sharp hooks, and lyrics about heartbreak and self-doubt. The EP TOO YOUNG TO BE SAD (2021) introduced «you broke me first», which became a global streaming hit, and her debut album i used to think i could fly (2022) expanded on themes of moving past a breakup.
