Tamino

Tamino is a Belgian singer-songwriter of mixed Egyptian and Belgian-Lebanese heritage, born in Antwerp. His grandfather was the celebrated Egyptian actor and singer Muharram Fouad, and that lineage shows through in Tamino's music, which blends Western indie-rock and art-pop songwriting with Arabic melodic scales and orchestral arrangements. His haunting falsetto and cinematic production have made him one of the more distinctive voices to emerge from the European alternative scene in recent years.

He broke through internationally with the single «Habibi», a brooding, string-laden track that showcased his ability to merge Middle Eastern tonality with brooding indie sensibilities, followed by songs like «Indigo Night» and «Sanctuary». His debut album Amir (2018) established his signature sound, while later work, including collaborations with Radiohead's Colin Greenwood, pushed his songwriting into darker, more expansive territory on releases such as Sahar.

Tamino's catalogue, including tracks like «Cigar», «Persephone», «The First Disciple» and «Tummy», reflects a songwriter preoccupied with longing, heritage and emotional vulnerability. He has built a reputation as a live performer whose shows lean on atmosphere and dynamic restraint, and he continues to be recognized as a bridge between Arabic musical tradition and contemporary European alternative music.
