SYML

SYML is the solo project of American singer-songwriter Brian Fennell, who began writing and recording music from a home studio near Seattle, Washington. The name, drawn from the Welsh word for “simple,” reflects Fennell's exploration of identity as an adopted child with unknown ties to his Welsh heritage — a theme that runs through much of his introspective, atmospheric songwriting.

His breakthrough came with the haunting ballad «Where's My Love», a sparse, emotionally raw track built around layered vocals and minimal instrumentation that found massive success on streaming platforms and in film and television placements. This song established the blueprint for SYML's sound: hushed, falsetto-laced vocals set against ambient folk-pop production, often exploring grief, longing, and fragile human connection.

Subsequent releases such as «Girl», «Body», and «Wildfire» expanded his catalog while keeping the same intimate, cinematic quality.
