sombr, born Shane Michael Boose on July 5, 2005, is an American singer, songwriter and producer from New York City who built his career from bedroom production during the pandemic era. Drawing on influences such as Radiohead, Bon Iver, Phoebe Bridgers and Jeff Buckley, he developed a sound that blends indie-pop songwriting with lo-fi textures and an emotionally direct, confessional lyrical style.

He first attracted wider attention with «caroline» in 2022, a self-produced track written while he was still a student at LaGuardia High School; its online success encouraged him to leave school at seventeen to pursue music full-time. His debut EP, in another life, followed in 2023, co-produced with Tony Berg and released through Warner Records alongside his own imprint SMB, offering an introspective, organically produced take on indie-pop.

sombr's profile expanded significantly in 2025 when «back to friends» and «undressed» went viral on TikTok, becoming breakout hits that introduced his music to a much wider audience. Now based in Los Angeles, he continues to write and produce much of his own material, with songs like «Homewrecker», «we never dated» and «under the mat» extending the diaristic, heartbreak-driven songwriting that has defined his catalog.
