Soccer Mommy

Soccer Mommy is the stage name of Sophia Regina Allison, an American singer-songwriter born in Zürich, Switzerland in 1997 and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. She began writing and recording music independently while attending college in New York, releasing a series of lo-fi bedroom-pop EPs that built a devoted online following before she signed to Fat Possum Records in 2017. Her early work established the intimate, diary-like songwriting and hazy guitar textures that would define her sound.

Her 2018 full-length debut, «Clean», marked her breakout, anchored by the widely praised single «Your Dog». She followed it with «Color Theory» in 2020 on Loma Vista and Concord, an album that pushed her sound toward denser, more atmospheric arrangements while keeping her plainspoken lyricism at the center; its single «circle the drain» became one of her most successful songs, reaching the Adult Alternative Airplay chart. In 2022 she released «Sometimes, Forever», expanding further into shoegaze and slowcore textures.

Soccer Mommy is often grouped with a wave of introspective indie-rock and bedroom-pop songwriters who emerged in the late 2010s, distinguished by her blend of 1990s alt-rock influence, confessional songwriting, and dream-pop atmosphere. Her music has earned a strong streaming presence and critical recognition as a distinctive voice in contemporary indie rock.
