Silk Sonic

Silk Sonic is a retro R&B and funk duo formed by American singer-songwriters Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak. The project grew out of their friendship on the road, when .Paak opened for Mars during the European leg of his 24K Magic Tour in 2017, and the two began writing together in the studio soon after. Their sound is a loving homage to 1970s soul, funk, and quiet-storm R&B, built on live instrumentation, lush vocal harmonies, and vintage production touches rather than modern trap-influenced beats.

The duo announced their partnership in early 2021 and released their debut album, «An Evening With Silk Sonic», later that year. The record was preceded by three singles: «Leave The Door Open», «Skate», and «Smokin Out The Window», each showcasing a different facet of their throwback aesthetic, from smooth falsetto balladry to upbeat funk grooves. The album also featured a spoken-word contribution from Bootsy Collins, reinforcing its ties to classic funk lineage.

Silk Sonic represents Bruno Mars' first true group collaboration after a career built largely around his solo work, while Anderson .Paak brought experience from his own acclaimed solo catalog and his earlier duo NxWorries with producer Knxwledge. Together they earned widespread critical acclaim and multiple Grammy Awards, cementing Silk Sonic as one of the most celebrated modern tributes to classic soul and funk music.
