Sheila On 7

Sheila On 7 is one of Indonesia's most popular rock and pop bands, formed in Yogyakarta on May 6, 1996. The classic lineup consists of Duta (Akhdiyat Duta Modjo) on vocals, Eross Candra on guitar, Adam Muhammad Subarkah on bass, and Brian Kresna Putro on drums. The band's original name, Sheila Gank, referenced the Celtic-derived name Sheila meaning musical, before evolving into Sheila On 7, alluding to the seven notes of the musical scale.

The group rose to national prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s, becoming a defining act of Indonesia's alternative pop-rock boom alongside acts of that era. Songs such as «Sephia», «Dan…», «Kita», and «Anugerah Terindah Yang Pernah Kumiliki» became staples of Indonesian radio and remain widely beloved decades later, known for their melodic hooks, romantic and reflective lyrics, and accessible guitar-driven arrangements.
