About the artist
SHAED is an American indie-pop trio formed in Washington, D.C., consisting of twin brothers Max and Spencer Ernst on multi-instrumental production and vocalist Chelsea Lee. The Ernst twins originally performed as The Walking Sticks before Lee joined the project, and by 2016 the group rebranded as SHAED, taking their name from a cloak in Patrick Rothfuss's novel «The Wise Man's Fear» as a nod to the way their music moves between light and dark tonal shades. Their sound blends synth-pop, electronic textures and rock-tinged production with Lee's powerful, emotive vocals at the center.
The band released their debut EP «Just Wanna See» in 2016 and steadily built a following through singles like «Melt» and «Perfume» before breaking through internationally with «Trampoline», a slow-building electro-pop track that became a sleeper hit after gaining traction on streaming and sync placements; a remix featuring ZAYN further boosted its reach. This success paved the way for their debut full-length album, «High Dive», released in 2021, which folded «Trampoline» into a broader collection of glossy, hook-driven pop songs.
SHAED's music is marked by lush production, danceable rhythms and Lee's dynamic vocal range, placing the trio within the lineage of synth-driven indie-pop acts that bridge underground sensibility with mainstream accessibility. Songs such as «You Got Me Like», «Thunder» and «Lonesome» continue to showcase their knack for melodic hooks layered over richly textured electronic arrangements.
