Samia

Samia Finnerty, who performs as Samia, is an American singer-songwriter originally from New York City, now based in Nashville. Working in indie pop and rock, she is known for confessional, often unflinchingly candid lyrics delivered with a raw emotional intensity, part of a wave of diaristic singer-songwriters who came up in the late 2010s and early 2020s.

She released early singles including her debut «Welcome to Eden» in the mid-2010s, followed by the Ode to Artifice EP in 2019. Her debut album, The Baby (2020), established her voice, exploring themes of grief, identity and self-image; it was later revisited on a reworked companion release featuring other artists reinterpreting the songs. The Scout EP followed in 2021, and she has continued to expand her sound across subsequent releases.

Samia is the daughter of actress Kathy Najimy and musician Dan Finnerty, and has also appeared in film and television. She has collaborated with and toured alongside the trio AJR, and her work is often cited alongside a broader scene of introspective, lyrically dense indie artists.
