RuPaul Andre Charles, known mononymously as RuPaul, is an American drag queen, actor, model, author and recording artist who rose to prominence in the early 1990s as one of the first drag performers to achieve mainstream celebrity in the United States. His breakout single «Supermodel (You Better Work)» in 1993 became a dance-pop and house anthem, blending catwalk imagery with club culture and establishing him as a crossover pop figure.
