Руки Вверх! (Ruki Vverh!)

Ruki Vverh! (Russian for «Hands Up!») is a Russian pop duo formed in Moscow in the mid-1990s by Sergey Zhukov and Alexey Potekhin. The group became one of the defining acts of post-Soviet Russian pop, blending catchy dance-pop melodies with sentimental, often nostalgic lyrics about youth and love. Their sound drew on Europop and disco-influenced production typical of late-1990s Russian radio.

The duo released a string of albums through the late 1990s and early 2000s, scoring massive hits such as «Крошка моя», «18 мне уже», «Алёшка» and «Он тебя целует», songs that remain staples of Russian nostalgia playlists. Their singles regularly topped Russian charts and made them one of the best-selling acts of the era.

After 2006 Zhukov and Potekhin largely pursued solo careers, though they have periodically reunited for joint projects and tours, including new material such as «Когда мы были молодыми» in 2020. Ruki Vverh! remains a touchstone of Russian pop nostalgia, frequently cited alongside other late-1990s dance-pop acts as shaping the sound of that generation.
