Romeo Santos

Romeo Santos, born Anthony Santos in the Bronx, New York, on July 21, 1981, is a singer, songwriter and producer widely regarded as the King of Bachata. Raised by a Dominican father and Puerto Rican mother, he grew up immersed in tropical rhythms and discovered his voice singing in his church choir as a teenager. That early passion led him to form the group that would become Aventura, which reshaped bachata by fusing it with R&B, hip-hop and pop sensibilities, breaking the genre out of its traditional mold and into mainstream Latin music.

With Aventura, Santos wrote and sang many of the group's biggest hits, including «Obsesión», establishing himself as the band's creative core before launching a hugely successful solo career. As a soloist he continued to modernize bachata, blending it with pop, R&B and urban influences while collaborating with major artists across genres, from Usher to Drake to Nicki Minaj.

Songs like «Propuesta Indecente», «Odio», «Eres Mía» and «Imitadora» became global hits, cementing his reputation as one of the most influential Latin artists of his generation. His smooth falsetto, romantic songwriting and genre-blending production have made him a defining voice in contemporary bachata and Latin pop, with an enduring influence on younger generations of tropical and urban artists.
