Rockwell, the stage name of Kennedy William Gordy, is an American singer-songwriter best remembered for his 1984 hit «Somebody’s Watching Me», a paranoid, synth-driven pop classic featuring an unmistakable guest chorus from his childhood friend Michael Jackson, with backing vocals from Jermaine Jackson. Signed to Motown, Gordy kept his identity as the son of label founder Berry Gordy secret at first, choosing the name Rockwell independently rather than trading on family connections.

His sound sits at the intersection of early-80s electro-pop, R&B grooves and quirky new wave theatrics, driven by nervous synth lines and spoken-word-adjacent vocal delivery. «Somebody’s Watching Me» became an international smash and a lasting piece of pop culture, sampled and referenced for decades, while follow-up singles like «Obscene Phone Caller» found more modest success mainly on the US charts.
