Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin, born Enrique Martín Morales on December 24, 1971, is a Puerto Rican singer, actor, and author who began his career at age twelve as a member of the boy band Menudo. After leaving the group, he pursued a solo career throughout the 1990s, releasing a string of Spanish-language albums while also acting on stage and television, including a stint on the American soap opera «General Hospital».

Martin's global breakthrough came in 1999, when his performance of «The Cup of Life» at the Grammy Awards helped ignite what became known as the Latin pop explosion. His subsequent single «Livin' la Vida Loca» became a worldwide phenomenon, one of the best-selling singles of all time, and paved the way for other Spanish-speaking artists to enter the English-language market.
