About the artist
Pritam Chakraborty, known mononymously as Pritam, born June 14, 1971, is one of the most prolific and commercially successful composers in Bollywood film music. Trained in sound engineering at FTII, he began his career composing advertising jingles before entering the film industry, initially as a co-composer, and rose to prominence as a solo composer with the score for «Dhoom» in 2004, whose title track became a landmark viral hit in Indian film music.
Over more than two decades, Pritam has scored music for well over a hundred Hindi films, becoming known for a versatile, eclectic style that draws on rock, electronic, folk, and traditional Indian influences while consistently delivering catchy, radio-friendly hooks. His work spans intimate romantic ballads and sweeping orchestral pieces to high-energy dance numbers, reflecting an ability to move fluidly between moods and genres depending on a film's needs.
Among his best-known compositions are «Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (Title Track)», «Raabta», «Teri Jhuki Nazar», «Ye Tune Kya Kiya», «Bhar Do Jholi Meri», «Bulleya», «Ve Kamleya», and «The Breakup Song», songs that have become staples of contemporary Bollywood soundtracks and helped define the sound of Hindi cinema in the 2000s and 2010s.
