Prince Royce

Prince Royce, born Geoffrey Royce Rojas in the Bronx, New York, to Dominican parents, is one of the artists most credited with bringing bachata to mainstream English- and Spanish-language audiences in the United States. Raised on the sound of Dominican bachata legends alongside American pop, he began making music in the mid-2000s and built a style that softened bachata’s traditional guitar-driven sound with pop production and R&B-influenced vocals.

His self-titled debut album, released in 2010 after signing with Sergio George’s Top Stop Music, produced hits like «Stand by Me» and «Corazón Sin Cara» and established him as a leading figure of the bachata-pop crossover, opening the genre to listeners who had never engaged with traditional bachata. Songs such as «Deja vu» and «Darte un Beso» cemented his reputation for romantic, radio-friendly bachata delivered with a distinctly modern sheen.

Around 2017 to 2019, Royce shifted toward mainstream Latin pop and urban sounds, collaborating with artists including Maluma, Bad Bunny and J Balvin. In 2020, he returned to his bachata roots with the album Alter Ego, while still incorporating the range of styles he had explored, reflecting an artist who moves fluidly between traditional bachata and contemporary Latin pop and urban genres.
