About the artist

Peterpan was an Indonesian pop rock band formed in Bandung in 2000, led by vocalist and principal songwriter Nazril «Ariel» Irham. Starting out as a covers act playing British and American alternative rock, the group soon developed a distinctly melodic, guitar-driven pop rock sound tailored to the Indonesian mainstream.

The band's breakthrough came with «Mimpi yang Sempurna», featured on a 2002 compilation of Bandung acts, which led to their 2003 debut album, «Taman Langit». Their 2004 sophomore record, «Bintang di Surga», turned them into one of Indonesia's biggest-selling acts, propelled by hits like «Ada Apa Denganmu», «Mungkin Nanti» and «Kukatakan dengan Indah», songs that remain staples of Indonesian pop rock and are still widely covered today.

In 2012 the band rebranded as Noah following a lineup and personal turbulence around Ariel, but Peterpan's early-2000s catalogue remains a defining chapter of modern Indonesian pop, known for its emotionally direct lyrics and radio-friendly rock arrangements that helped set the template for the country's post-2000 mainstream rock sound.
