Peter Hollens

Peter Hollens is an American singer and producer based in Oregon, widely known as one of the pioneering solo artists of the YouTube a cappella movement. He began his channel in 2011, building an audience through vocal covers and mashups recorded and layered entirely by himself, and has since grown it to millions of subscribers.

Hollens' involvement with a cappella dates back to 1999, when he co-founded the University of Oregon's collegiate male group On the Rocks, which later appeared on NBC's «The Sing-Off». His solo work spans covers of pop, rock, folk and film/TV themes, including fan-favorite arrangements like «Misty Mountains» from «The Hobbit» and traditional songs such as «Loch Lomond», «Shenandoah» and «The Skye Boat Song», often released alongside self-produced music videos showcasing his layered vocal arranging.

Beyond performing, Hollens has built a career as an entrepreneur within the creator economy, releasing numerous independently produced albums, including compilations of his YouTube work and dedicated concept records, and advising platforms and companies such as Patreon on how creators can sustain careers directly with their audiences.
