Peter Cetera

Peter Cetera is an American singer, bassist, and songwriter from Chicago, best known as the longtime co-lead vocalist and bass player of the rock band Chicago before launching a successful solo career in the mid-1980s. His high tenor voice defined many of the band's biggest ballads and helped push their sound toward a more radio-friendly, pop-oriented direction during the late 1970s and 1980s.

After leaving Chicago, Cetera became a major figure in adult contemporary and soft rock, scoring hits both as a solo artist and through high-profile duets. His work is defined by soaring, emotive vocal melodies wrapped in polished, romantic production, epitomized by songs like «Glory of Love», written for the film The Karate Kid Part II, and «The Next Time I Fall», his duet with Amy Grant.

Cetera also co-wrote and performed classic Chicago ballads such as «Hard to Say I'm Sorry» and «You're the Inspiration», and later collaborated with Cher on «After All». Across both his band tenure and solo career, his smooth, melodic songwriting and instantly recognizable voice made him one of the defining vocalists of soft rock and adult contemporary music.
