Paul Simon

Paul Simon is an American singer-songwriter widely regarded as one of the finest lyricists in popular music. He first rose to fame as one half of Simon & Garfunkel, whose intricate harmonies and literary songwriting produced enduring hits like «Mrs. Robinson» and «The Sound of Silence» before the duo split in 1970 over artistic differences.

Simon's solo career proved just as significant, marked by a restless curiosity that led him to blend folk and pop songwriting with a wide range of global influences. His 1986 album Graceland, drawing on South African mbaqanga and township styles, became a landmark work that introduced international audiences to African musicians and remains one of his most celebrated achievements, spawning hits such as «You Can Call Me Al» and «Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes».
