Panjabi MC, born Rajinder Rai, is a British-Indian producer and DJ from Coventry, England, widely credited as one of the pioneers who brought bhangra music to mainstream Western audiences. Raised in a Punjabi family with deep ties to bhangra culture, he began releasing music in the early 1990s, building a following within the UK's British Asian underground scene before his sound reached far wider audiences.

His breakthrough came with «Mundian To Bach Ke» (also known as «Beware of the Boys»), which fused a traditional Punjabi bhangra vocal sample and tumbi melody with the bassline from the Knight Rider theme, creating a genre-crossing club anthem. The track became a global hit in the early 2000s and was remixed by Jay-Z, cementing Panjabi MC's crossover appeal between South Asian music traditions and Western hip-hop and dance production.

Beyond that signature song, his catalogue includes tracks like «Jogi», «Dhol Jageero Da», and «Moorni», which showcase his consistent blend of dhol and tumbi instrumentation with electronic beats and rap-influenced production.
