Owl City

Owl City is the primary musical project of American singer, songwriter and producer Adam Young, born in Minnesota. Young began recording lo-fi electronic tracks in his parents' basement, initially releasing music as Sky Sailing before adopting the Owl City name for a brighter, synth-driven pop sound heavily inspired by acts like The Postal Service. After two little-noticed albums, Maybe I'm Dreaming and Of June, Owl City broke through internationally in 2009 with the single «Fireflies», a chart-topping hit from the album Ocean Eyes that established his signature blend of shimmering synthesizers, upbeat electronic production and whimsical, diary-like lyrics.

Following that breakout, Young released a string of albums including All Things Bright and Beautiful and The Midsummer Station, the latter featuring the single «Good Time», a collaboration with Carly Rae Jepsen. His music continued evolving through releases like Mobile Orchestra and the Cinematic era, often exploring themes of nostalgia, wonder and everyday life filtered through dreamy, maximalist production.

Owl City occupies a distinctive niche in electropop, credited with helping popularize a hyper-melodic, synth-pop sound in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Beyond Owl City, Young has also worked under the Sky Sailing name and produced orchestral compositions as Adam Young Scores.
