OMAH LAY

Omah Lay, born Stanley Omah Didia on 19 May 1997, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter from Ikwerre, Rivers State. He broke through in 2020 with the self-produced «Bad Influence», which spread virally on social media before he issued «You» as his official debut single. His moody, melody-driven fusion of Afrobeats with R&B and alté sensibilities set him apart from more upbeat contemporaries, earning him recognition as one of the leading voices in the new wave of Afro-fusion artists.

After two acclaimed EPs, Omah Lay released his debut studio album, Boy Alone, on 15 July 2022, later expanded with a deluxe edition featuring six additional tracks. His international profile grew through high-profile collaborations, most notably «Attention» with Justin Bieber, and in June 2023 he appeared on the deluxe soundtrack of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse alongside Big Boss Vette on «I Can’t Stop».

Known for introspective lyrics about love, vulnerability, and mental health delivered over stripped-back, atmospheric production, Omah Lay has become a distinctive figure in contemporary Afrobeats, admired for pushing the genre toward more emotionally raw territory.
