Olly Alexander

Olly Alexander, born Oliver Alexander Thornton on 15 July 1990 in North Yorkshire, England, is a British singer, songwriter and actor best known as the frontman and creative force behind the synth-pop project Years & Years before launching a solo career under his own name. His music blends euphoric electronic pop with soulful, falsetto-driven vocals, drawing on influences from disco and R&B to build anthemic, dancefloor-ready songs that often explore queer identity, desire and vulnerability with striking openness.

Beyond music, Alexander earned widespread critical acclaim for his lead performance as Ritchie Tozer in the Channel 4 drama series «It's a Sin» (2021), a role that cemented his standing as a prominent LGBTQ+ voice in British culture. He has long used his platform to advocate for queer rights and HIV awareness, weaving these themes into both his acting and songwriting.
