ВИА Гра (Nu Virgos)

ВИА Гра, internationally known as Nu Virgos, is a Ukrainian pop girl group created in the late 1990s by producer Dmitry Kostyuk, with much of its signature sound written by composer Konstantin Meladze. The project became one of the most commercially successful and widely recognized female pop acts across Russia, Ukraine and the broader post-Soviet music market during the 2000s, thanks to hits like «Попытка № 5», «Бриллианты» and «Сумасшедший».

The group is defined less by a fixed lineup than by a revolving cast of singers — its founding trio featured Alyona Vinnitskaya, Nadezhda Granovskaya and Anna Sedokova, and over the years more than twenty members passed through the project, including Vera Brezhneva, Svetlana Loboda and Santa Dimopulos. This rotating-member model, paired with glossy, provocative music videos and Meladze's ear for melodic pop hooks, became the group's trademark and a recognizable formula in Russian-language pop.

ВИА Гра received major regional pop awards during its peak years and paused activity in the early 2010s before Kostyuk relaunched the project with a new lineup around 2020. Several alumnae went on to notable solo careers, extending the group's influence well beyond its own catalogue.
