Nidji

Nidji is an Indonesian pop-rock band formed in Jakarta in 2002, shaped heavily by the melodic, anthemic influence of bands like Coldplay and The Killers. The group built a large national following through the mid-to-late 2000s with a consistent line-up and a string of studio albums and soundtrack contributions that made them one of the country's most recognizable mainstream acts.

Their biggest breakthrough came through the soundtrack to the film Laskar Pelangi, with the title track «Laskar Pelangi» becoming a defining hit and something close to a generational anthem in Indonesia. Other well-known songs such as «Hapus Aku», «Bila Aku Jatuh Cinta» and «Rahasia Hati» cemented their reputation for polished, emotionally direct pop-rock built around soaring choruses and clean guitar work.

The band's line-up remained stable from their 2006 debut album for over a decade until frontman Giring Ganesha left in 2017 to pursue a political career, with Yusuf Ubay stepping in as his successor on vocals and saxophone. Nidji's music remains associated with the wave of Indonesian pop-rock that dominated radio and film soundtracks in the 2000s and early 2010s.
