About the artist
Ñejo, born Carlos Daniel Crespo Planas on June 20, 1975, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, is a reggaetón and Latin urban artist who rose to prominence as one half of the duo Ñejo & Dalmata during the genre's mid-2000s explosion. Introduced to hip-hop early through cassettes and mixtapes brought by relatives from New York, he developed a raspy, aggressive delivery that set him apart from smoother, more melodic peers.
As a duo, Ñejo & Dalmata became known for gritty, street-oriented tracks and remixes that circulated widely on mixtapes and radio during reggaetón's golden era, helping define the harder-edged, perreo-driven side of the movement alongside acts like Wisin & Yandel and Tego Calderón. Ñejo's voice and freestyle-honed cadence made him a sought-after collaborator on remixes.
After the duo's split, Ñejo continued as a solo artist, maintaining a presence in the Latin urban scene through collaborations and features that kept his distinctive style relevant to newer generations of reggaetón listeners.
