Mrs. GREEN APPLE

Mrs. GREEN APPLE is a Japanese rock band formed in Tokyo in 2013, centered on vocalist and guitarist Motoki Ohmori alongside guitarist Hiroto Wakai and keyboardist Ryoka Fujisawa. After building a following through independent live shows and demo releases, the band signed to EMI Records and released their major-label debut mini-album «Variety» in 2015, following an earlier indie EP, «Progressive». Their sound blends bright, melodic pop-rock with orchestral flourishes, funk-inflected rhythms and theatrical arrangements, giving them a distinctive identity within Japan's rock scene.

The band gained wider recognition through anime tie-ins, including the ending theme «Speaking» for Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, and through festival appearances at major events such as Rock in Japan Festival and Rising Sun Rock Festival. Their debut full album, «TWELVE», released in 2016, charted highly on the Billboard Japan Top Album Sales chart, cementing their commercial breakthrough.

Over the following years Mrs. GREEN APPLE became known for ambitious, genre-blending singles like «コロンブス (Columbus)» and «ライラック (Lilac)», which showcase Ohmori's expressive vocals and the group's flair for dramatic, cinematic pop songwriting. They remain one of the more distinctive acts in contemporary Japanese rock, prized for their willingness to mix genres freely rather than settle into a single stylistic lane.
