About the artist
Mr Eazi, born Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, is a singer and entrepreneur credited with popularizing the laid-back, melodic style that became known as Banku music, a fusion of Nigerian and Ghanaian pop sensibilities. He studied engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana, and it was there, immersed in Accra's music scene, that he began developing the mellow, highlife-inflected sound that would define his early career.
His breakout singles «Skin Tight» and «Hollup» introduced a smoother, conversational vocal style layered over minimalist, guitar-driven Afrobeats production, distinguishing him from more up-tempo Nigerian pop of the time. He built further momentum with hits like «Leg Over» and «Pour Me Water», tracks that helped push Afrobeats toward global playlists in the mid-to-late 2010s.
Beyond his own catalog, Mr Eazi became known for cross-border collaborations linking Nigerian and Ghanaian artists, working with figures such as Sarkodie, Efya, and later international names, and for his role as an advocate for African music business and artist ownership, including ventures supporting emerging African talent.
