Morat

Morat is a Colombian pop-rock and folk-pop band formed in Bogotá in 2015 by Juan Pablo Isaza, Juan Pablo Villamil, and twin brothers Simón and Martín Vargas Morales. The members met as schoolmates and grew up together before deciding to pursue music as a collective, drawing on influences ranging from Spanish singer-songwriter Joaquín Sabina to rock acts like Red Hot Chili Peppers, which shaped their acoustic-guitar-driven, harmony-rich sound.

The band quickly became one of the most successful Latin pop groups of their generation, known for romantic, storytelling lyrics and infectious melodies that bridge folk-pop instrumentation with contemporary Latin pop production. Songs such as «Cómo Te Atreves», «Llamada Perdida» and «Ladrona» showcase their knack for emotionally direct ballads and mid-tempo hits, while «Besos en Guerra» and «París» reflect their consistent chart presence across Latin America and Spain.

Morat has built a reputation for extensive touring and collaborations with major figures in Latin pop, helping popularize a warmer, band-based alternative to the more electronic reguetón sound dominating the charts.
