About the artist

Monetochka is the stage name of Liza Gyrdymova, a Russian pop singer and songwriter born in Yekaterinburg. She first gained attention posting self-written, self-accompanied songs online starting in 2016, quickly building a cult following for her sharply ironic lyrics that pair deceptively cheerful, danceable pop melodies with dark, satirical, often socially critical themes.

Her early compilation Психоделический Клауд Рэп and the 2017 release Я Лиза (which included a notable collaboration with Noize MC on «Чайлдфри») established her voice as one of Russia's most distinctive young songwriters. Her 2018 studio album Раскраски Для Взрослых, produced by Витя БЦХ, refined her sound into polished, hook-driven synth-pop while keeping the biting wit and observational commentary on relationships, gender and post-Soviet life that define her writing.

Across subsequent albums, Monetochka has continued blending pop, rap and rock influences, addressing themes like mental health and self-harm in songs such as «Селфхарм», while also becoming known for her outspoken public commentary. She has lived outside Russia in recent years, and her music remains widely streamed and discussed among Russian-speaking audiences for its blend of catchy songcraft and sharp social critique.
