Mili (JPN)

Mili is a Japanese-based international music-producing group built around the songwriting partnership of composer/guitarist Yamato Kasai and trilingual Canadian vocalist momocashew, who writes lyrics across multiple languages. The lineup has also included bassist Yukihito Mitomo, drummer Shoto Yoshida, and illustrator/animator Ao Fujimori, who shapes the visual world surrounding the music; stylist and art director Ame Yamaguchi was part of the group until stepping away in the late 2010s.

Mili's music draws on classical composition, electronic textures, rock and even country influences, woven into elaborate, narrative-driven songs that often unfold like chapters of a larger story. This ambitious, genre-blending approach has made the group a distinctive presence within anime- and game-adjacent music circles, where songs like «Gone Angels», «Compass» and «world.execute(me);» showcase their taste for conceptual, almost theatrical songwriting.

The group built a strong following through its contributions to the rhythm game Deemo, becoming one of its most popular featured artists, and further raised its profile with «Rightfully», the opening theme for the anime series Goblin Slayer. Tracks such as «Through Patches of Violet» and «String Theocracy» reflect Mili's continued exploration of intricate, story-rich soundscapes that blend classical instrumentation with modern production.
