Mike Posner

Mike Posner is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, and record producer from Detroit, Michigan. He first drew attention while a student at Duke University, where songs he wrote and recorded independently spread online and led to a major-label deal. His 2010 debut album, 31 Minutes to Take Off, produced the hit «Cooler Than Me» and established him as both a performer and an in-demand songwriter, penning material for artists including Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, and Nick Jonas.

After years of shelved follow-up projects, Posner released his second album, At Night, Alone., in 2016. The record marked a stripped-down, more introspective turn in his sound and included «I Took a Pill in Ibiza», a confessional track about fame and burnout that became a worldwide phenomenon once remixed by Norwegian producer Seeb, topping charts and reaching the Top 10 in dozens of countries.

Beyond his own catalog, Posner has remained active as a collaborator and writer across pop, hip-hop, and electronic circles, and his close friendship with fellow Detroit artist Big Sean has been a recurring thread in his career. His work is known for blending candid, diary-like lyricism with accessible pop and dance production.
