About the artist

Men at Work are an Australian rock band formed in Melbourne in 1978 by singer-guitarist Colin Hay, drummer Jerry Speiser and guitarist Ron Strykert, later joined by keyboardist and saxophonist Greg Ham and bassist John Rees. The band rose to international fame in the early 1980s with a distinctive new wave-inflected pop-rock sound built on witty, conversational lyrics, reggae-tinged rhythms and Ham's instantly recognizable flute and sax lines.

Their debut album Business as Usual produced the global hits «Who Can It Be Now?» and «Down Under», the latter becoming an unofficial Australian anthem and topping charts in multiple countries. The follow-up Cargo continued their run of success with singles like «Overkill» and «It's a Mistake», cementing their place as one of the defining Australian pop acts of the early MTV era.

The band split in 1986 amid lineup changes and creative fatigue, later reforming briefly with different configurations, primarily around Colin Hay, who continued performing under the Men at Work name and as a solo artist. Their performance at the closing ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympics underscored «Down Under»'s status as an enduring symbol of Australian identity.
