Mavado

Mavado, born David Constantine Brooks, is a Jamaican dancehall artist from the Gully area of Kingston, one of the genre's most prominent figures since the mid-2000s. He rose alongside a fierce rivalry with fellow dancehall star Vybz Kartel, a Gully-versus-Gaza feud that dominated Jamaican music culture and defined much of dancehall's narrative in that era.

His breakthrough single «Delilah» brought him significant mainstream visibility in the United States, helping expand dancehall's reach into American urban radio and pop culture. He is known for his melodic, singjay style, delivering rugged street narratives and themes of struggle and survival with a distinctively emotive vocal approach influenced by artists like Bounty Killer and Cutty Ranks.

Mavado has been signed to DJ Khaled's We the Best Music imprint, connecting his career to the American hip-hop and R&B mainstream, and has released numerous hits blending dancehall riddims with crossover pop and R&B sensibilities, including tracks like «Give It All to Me» and «True (Money Can't Buy Life)», cementing his place as one of dancehall's defining voices.
