Marian Hill

Marian Hill is an American electronic-pop duo from the Philadelphia area, formed by vocalist Samantha Gongol and multi-instrumentalist and producer Jeremy Lloyd. The two met in high school and began writing songs together, gradually developing a sound that blends minimalist electronic production with elements of jazz, blues and R&B. Gongol's smoky, laid-back vocal delivery paired with Lloyd's sparse, saxophone-inflected beats gave the duo a distinctive sonic identity that set them apart from more conventional pop acts.

The group first drew wide attention with singles such as «Got It», «Down» and «One Time», tracks built around minimal arrangements, breathy vocals and a heavy reliance on space and groove rather than dense instrumentation. «Got It» gained additional exposure after being featured in a television commercial, helping introduce the duo to a broader audience beyond dedicated blog and streaming listeners.

Over the following years Marian Hill released additional material including the EP Sway and expanded their catalog with songs like «Back to Me», «I Want You», «Lovit», «Lips» and «Breathe Into Me». Their music is often described as blending classic vocal jazz sensibilities with modern electronic and hip-hop-influenced production, a combination that has made them a recognizable name within the alternative R&B and electro-pop scene.
