Marc Anthony

Marc Anthony, born Marco Antonio Muñiz in New York City in 1968 to Puerto Rican parents, is one of the most successful salsa singers in history and a major figure in Latin pop. He began his career in the late 1980s working in freestyle and dance music before turning to salsa romántica in the early 1990s, a shift that redefined his career and helped modernize the genre for a new generation.

His voice, powerful and emotionally expressive, became closely associated with hits like «Vivir Mi Vida», «Ahora Quién» and the classic «Aguanile», recorded with Rubén Blades. He has also released English-language pop and R&B material, including the crossover hit «I Need to Know» and «You Sang to Me», and worked with a wide range of producers and songwriters across both markets, cementing his reputation as an artist equally at home in salsa and pop.
