Mahmood

Mahmood, stage name of Alessandro Mahmoud, is an Italian singer-songwriter born in Milan to an Egyptian father and a Sardinian mother. His chosen stage name deliberately echoes the English phrase «my mood», hinting at the confessional, emotionally direct style that runs through his music. After studying voice and beginning to write songs as a teenager, he gained early exposure on the talent show X Factor before establishing himself as a songwriter for other artists and, soon after, a solo star in his own right.

Mahmood's commercial breakthrough came with «Soldi», a Sanremo Music Festival entry that became a defining hit of contemporary Italian pop, blending Mediterranean and Middle Eastern melodic touches with modern R&B, trap and electronic production. He returned to major success with songs such as «Brividi» — a Sanremo-winning duet — and later «TUTA GOLD» and «Barrio», continuing to fuse Italian songwriting tradition with global pop and urban sounds.

His music is notable for weaving personal and family narrative, including his mixed heritage, into radio-ready pop structures, making him one of the most distinctive voices in the new generation of Italian pop.
