Magdalena Bay

Magdalena Bay is an American electropop duo formed by Mica Tenenbaum (vocals) and Matthew Lewin (production, instruments) in Miami before relocating to Los Angeles. The pair met in high school and built their following through a distinctive online presence, blending retro-futuristic visuals with hyper-produced, internet-savvy pop music that draws on 80s synth-pop, hyperpop, and psychedelic influences.

Their sound is dense and maximalist, layering glossy synths, vocoder effects, and shifting song structures that often morph unexpectedly within a single track. This playful unpredictability, paired with a concept-driven visual aesthetic across music videos and album eras, has made them a favorite among fans of internet-native, genre-blending pop. Songs like «Killing Time», «Chaeri», and «Image» showcase their knack for hooks nested inside experimental arrangements.

The duo gained wider recognition with their debut album «Mercurial World» and continued to build acclaim with «Imaginal Disk», cementing their reputation as one of the most inventive acts in contemporary indie-pop.
