Mabel Alabama-Pearl McVey, known professionally as Mabel, is a British singer and songwriter based in London. Born in Malaga, Spain and raised largely in Stockholm, Sweden, she comes from a deeply musical family: her mother is singer Neneh Cherry and her father is producer Cameron McVey, who has worked with Massive Attack. This upbringing exposed her early to pop, soul and electronic influences that later shaped her own sound.

Mabel broke through in the mid-2010s with a string of singles blending pop, R&B and dance-pop textures, including «Thinking of You» and the breakout hit «Finders Keepers». Her 2017 mixtape Ivy to Roses and its expanded 2019 edition built her UK fanbase, featuring tracks like «Fine Line», «Ring Ring» with Jax Jones and Rich the Kid, and the top-three hit «Don’t Call Me Up».

Her debut studio album, High Expectations, released in 2019, cemented her as one of the UK’s leading pop voices, containing «Don’t Call Me Up» and the top-ten single «Mad Love». Her music is known for glossy pop production, confident dance-leaning grooves and candid lyrics about relationships and self-assurance, placing her alongside a wave of British pop and R&B artists who emerged in the late 2010s.
