Luis Miguel

Luis Miguel is one of the most celebrated singers in the history of Latin pop, a Mexican-based artist whose career began in the early 1980s when he was still a child. Born in Puerto Rico into a family of Italian and Spanish descent, he rose to fame across Latin America almost immediately, releasing his debut album at the age of eleven and becoming known early on as a teen idol before maturing into one of the genre's defining voices.

Through the late 1980s and 1990s he shifted from youthful pop toward romantic balladry, working closely with producer Armando Manzanero and others to craft a string of albums that cemented his reputation as an interpreter of the bolero tradition, including the acclaimed Romance series. Songs such as «La Incondicional», «Culpable o No» and his versions of classic boleros like «Sabor a Mí» and «Historia de un Amor» became staples of Latin American popular music and showcased his rich, expressive baritone.

Later in his career he embraced ranchera and mariachi music while never abandoning pop, demonstrating a stylistic range that few of his contemporaries could match.
