Low Roar

Low Roar is a project built around the hushed, melancholic songwriting of Ryan Karazija, an American musician who previously fronted the indie rock band Audrye Sessions. After relocating from California to Reykjavik, Iceland around 2010, Karazija struggled to find steady work and began writing and recording songs at home using little more than a laptop, gradually assembling what became Low Roar's self-titled debut album. The intimate, lo-fi origins of the project shaped its signature sound: sparse arrangements, falsetto vocals, and a blend of folk, electronic textures and soft rock atmospherics.

Over time Low Roar expanded from a solo bedroom project into a full band, with contributions from musicians including drummer Logi Guðmundsson and keyboardist Leifur Björnsson, and later other collaborators as the group's lineup evolved. The band released several full-length albums through the 2010s, building a devoted following for their brooding, emotionally direct songs such as «I'll Keep Coming», «Bones» and «Give Up».

Low Roar reached a much wider audience when their music was featured prominently in Hideo Kojima's video game Death Stranding, including trailers and the game's soundtrack, introducing the band's atmospheric sound to gamers worldwide and cementing its place as a distinctive voice within the alternative and electronic-tinged indie scene.
