About the artist
Loreen, born Lorine Zeineb Nora Talhaoui in Stockholm in 1983, is a Swedish singer of Moroccan Berber descent who became one of the most celebrated figures in Eurovision history. She first gained public attention on Swedish Idol in 2004, reaching the semifinal, and released the single «The Snake» the following year before stepping away from performing to work in television and production. Her comeback began at Melodifestivalen 2011 with «My Heart Is Refusing Me», and she broke through decisively in 2012 with «Euphoria», winning both Melodifestivalen and the Eurovision Song Contest in a landslide victory that made the song a global club and pop hit.
Loreen returned to Eurovision a decade later and won again in 2023 with «Tattoo», becoming only the second act ever to win the contest twice. Her sound blends anthemic Europop with electronic and dance production, often built around soaring vocal hooks, minor-key melodies, and cinematic builds. Songs like «Statements», «Is It Love» and «Forever» continued this trajectory, mixing personal introspection with dancefloor-ready arrangements.
Beyond Eurovision, Loreen has built a reputation as an artist unafraid to explore darker, more experimental textures within mainstream pop, drawing on electronic and rock influences. Her work has made her a defining voice of modern Scandinavian pop and one of the most recognizable names to emerge from the Eurovision stage in the twenty-first century.
