About the artist
Lolo Zouaï is a French-American singer, songwriter, and producer born in Paris to a French mother and an Algerian father before moving to San Francisco's Sunset District as an infant. Growing up between Bay Area hip-hop, classic French chanson, and Algerian raï, she developed a distinctive sound she describes as bittersweet bangers, blending atmospheric electronic production with smoky R&B and hip-hop textures, often singing in both English and French.
After early piano training and singing in a French elementary school, she briefly attended Belmont University in Nashville before relocating to New York to pursue music. Her 2017 collaboration with producer Stelios Phili on «High Highs to Low Lows» became a breakout viral hit, and that same year she co-wrote a song for H.E.R.'s Grammy-winning debut album. She followed with independently released singles including «Blue», «Desert Rose», and «Brooklyn Love», building a devoted following that led to sold-out headline shows across North America and Europe.
Zouaï's music is noted for its intimate, moody atmosphere and cross-cultural identity, drawing equally on French pop sensibilities and American R&B production. She has continued to release music independently, cementing her reputation as a genre-blurring artist with a distinctly cinematic, late-night sound.
