About the artist
Little Mix formed in 2011 on the eighth series of The X Factor UK, where Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock were put together as a group by judge Kelly Rowland after auditioning separately. They went on to win the competition, becoming the first group ever to do so, and quickly became one of the most successful British girl groups of the 2010s. Jesy Nelson left the group in December 2020, and the remaining trio continued as a three-piece.
Their sound moved fluidly across pop, R&B and dance-pop, with a knack for sharp, empowering hooks and vocal-forward production. Debut album DNA introduced hits like «Wings» and «DNA», followed by Salute and the more assertive Get Weird, home to «Black Magic» and «Secret Love Song» featuring Jason Derulo. Later records leaned further into contemporary pop and R&B textures, producing songs such as «Shout Out to My Ex», «Woman Like Me», «Power» and «Touch».
Throughout their career, Little Mix collaborated with a wide range of artists including Missy Elliott, Sean Paul, Stormzy, CNCO, David Guetta and Nicki Minaj, reflecting their willingness to cross genre lines. Their chart success, four consecutive UK number-one albums and reputation for candid songwriting about body image, relationships and self-worth cemented their place as a defining pop act of their generation.
