Leonid Agutin is a Soviet-born Russian singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist who has been active since the late 1980s, known for blending pop with Latin American, jazz, and world-music influences rather than staying within a single genre. Born in Moscow, he built a distinctive style that set him apart from mainstream Russian pop by incorporating rhythms and instrumentation drawn from Latin and Caribbean music traditions, giving his catalogue a warm, cosmopolitan character.

His breakthrough came in the 1990s with albums that mixed Russian-language songwriting with these international influences, and he has remained a consistently active recording artist for decades, releasing albums that range from the early Bosonogiy Malchik and Dekameron to later works like Cosmopolitan Life and La Vida Cosmopolita — titles that reflect his ongoing interest in Latin sounds.
