About the artist
Lemon Demon is the musical project of American musician, animator and comedian Neil Cicierega, started in 2003 as a successor to his earlier project Trapezoid. Recorded almost entirely by Cicierega himself in the studio, Lemon Demon is known for its eclectic, genre-hopping sound that moves freely between rock, pop-punk, electronic and rap-adjacent styles, often wrapped in absurdist, darkly comic, or surreal lyrics.
The project achieved viral internet fame well before streaming-era virality was common, most notably with «The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny», a rapid-fire novelty song that became one of the defining tracks of early-2000s internet culture and helped popularize the flash-animation music video format. Cicierega's knack for hooky melodies paired with strange, internet-inflected humor became the project's signature, evident in later tracks like «Cabinet Man» and «Two Trucks».
While studio recordings are made almost entirely solo, Lemon Demon has performed live with a full backing band since 2006. Cicierega is also known outside the project for his mashup work released under his own name, and Lemon Demon's blend of internet-native humor and genuinely crafted songwriting has kept it a cult favorite across multiple generations of online music fans.
