LAUV

Lauv is the stage name of Ari Staprans Leff, an American singer-songwriter and producer whose intimate, bedroom-pop take on romance helped define a strand of 2010s streaming-era pop. Raised playing strings and piano before picking up guitar at eleven, he studied at NYU's Music Technology Program, absorbing jazz and electronic production alongside songwriting. His self-recorded 2015 debut single «The Other» became a slow-burn streaming phenomenon, followed by the EP that established his airy, R&B-tinged sound built on soft falsetto vocals and minimalist electronic beats.

Lauv's breakthrough into mainstream pop came with «I Like Me Better» and the collaborative hit «Paris in the Rain», songs that showcased his knack for confessional lyrics about heartbreak and self-doubt wrapped in glossy, radio-friendly production. He has continued exploring themes of loneliness and mental health on tracks like «fuck, i'm lonely» and «i'm so tired...», often working with fellow pop artists and producers to bridge indie sensibility with chart ambitions.
