Laufey

Laufey is an Icelandic-Chinese singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist known for blending traditional jazz and bossa nova with contemporary pop songwriting. Raised between Reykjavík and Washington, D.C., with regular visits to Beijing, she grew up playing cello and piano and developed a deep affinity for jazz standards, an influence that runs throughout her catalog. She studied at Berklee College of Music before her debut single «Street by Street» topped charts in Iceland.

Her sound stands apart from most contemporary pop by embracing lush jazz arrangements, romantic orchestration and old-world vocal phrasing, while addressing themes of young love and self-discovery in a way that connects with modern listeners raised on pop and streaming culture.
